Using the boost only cancels out the level-up rewards for the character you permanently skip to level 80. What if all my characters are already level 80? You can either create a new character or consume the boost with one of your existing level 80 characters.
Edit: Expansions are only playable after level 80. But you can get a mount (raptor) earlier if you don't care about story spoilers and have a helpful level 80 friend to carry you. Either expansion will unlock masteries (including Core Tyria) for you when you reach level 80 and do the first expansion story step.
In general, exploration is the name of the game (well, actually its Guild Wars 2 but you know what I mean :P) - whatever you do, it'll likely give you experience, so just do what you enjoy. You'll get all skills and traits by level 80 anyway, so pick what sounds fun and experiment, you cant damage your character in the long run and you can
The boost doesn't get you all the hero points or mastery points you'll need anyway. Since you're going to have to go and get those regardless, might as well learn your proferssion's skill set along the way. It's my opinion that the level 80 boost is a stick designed to look like a carrot.
Hey, I player my 1st Character to level 25-30 then got a second one boosted to 80 . You might get overwhelmed , you might take it slow and figure it out. In GW2 you scale your level with the maps, so if you feel overwhelmed after the level you can go back to previous zones and chill there and learn the mechanics.
zm8fR. The XP is wasted until you do the first instance of either Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire to unlock the Mastery system. Don't freak out about wasting this XP, though. The total amount of XP required for Masteries isn't that huge anyway. Masteries are a long-term project to get them all, and XP isn't the only limiting factor.
You can do anything. Level 80 boost doesnt affect your progression, just your level (and give some rewards and bad gear). Thanks, good to know. Yes, you will start with the level 10 story. A nice thing is that you wonβt feel like a god amongst men when level 80 and and doing level 10 personal story.
I should have been clearer in my question. Although the boost is valued at 2k gems, I do not value them very much at all. As mentioned, it is incredibly easy to reach max level. Tomes of Knowledge are easy to obtain for instant boost. Or fast leveling through crafting. In additions, the new Ad
API. 66949. β. Double-click to consume. Double-click to advance a character to level 40. Can only be used by characters under level 40. β In-game description. Experience Scroll is a consumable that increases the character's level to 40 if that character is below level 40.
IMO it's a lot more fun to do map completion at max level with all 3 traits and all utilities unlocked. So players can boost to 80 and then start doing map completion, and get all the things mentioned above, including keys for doing map complete. The Hero points they earn will work them towards unlocking an elite spec at that point.
Then you must start the Heart of Thorns story and play the prologue and the first mission to get the basic glider, and you need a level 80 character to do that. Once unlocked, the mastery and related skins will be account-wide, so you can do that with a different character, then go back to the low level character to use it.
